Design for Six Sigma Certification

Acuity Institute’s Design for Six Sigma Certification Course is the most dynamic certification package available.

Whereas many other Design for Six Sigma training programs are intended for manufacturing operations, Acuity’s program focuses on non-manufacturing operations, such as financial services and healthcare, making this course diverse enough to be applied in a wide variety of industries.

If you are already a certified Lean Six Sigma Black Belt, Green Belt, or Yellow Belt, and have been using the DMAIC methodology to help existing products or services eliminate waste and improve efficiency, you will find that adding Acuity’s DFSS course to your toolbox is an invaluable skill set to achieve superior results. This course is designed to provide Master Black Belts, Black Belts, Green Belts, and Project Leaders with the additional tools and concepts necessary to successfully execute DFSS projects.

Course description

Design For Six Sigma (DFSS) utilizes the DMADV methodology, which stands for Define, Measure, Analyze, Design, and Verify.

DFSS is different from the traditional Lean Six Sigma DMAIC methodology. DMAIC reduces defects in existing products or processes, whereas DFSS is often used when designing new products and services. DFSS can also be used when there are no processes in place for an existing product or service, or if the process is poorly designed and only a drastic redesign will achieve the desired performance level to meet customer requirements. You may also find an existing product or service process has reached its maximum potential but still does not meet the desired performance level or customer specification, therefore DFSS can be used in your redesign. Implementing the Design for Six Sigma approach ensures that the processes and product design will meet your customer requirements and you are launching a low-defect level product or service right from the start.

While prior Lean Six Sigma experience may be helpful in rapidly deploying Design for Six Sigma, there are no prerequisites for this course.

For many of Acuity’s courses, we have assembled a Toolkit, which contains a complete, user-friendly set of the templates included in the course. The toolkit assists practitioners in keeping focused on their project work and not creating “templates”. For ease of use, the templates can be downloaded directly to your computer and are yours to keep and utilize in future projects. The templates have been developed in common formats (MS Word, MS Excel or MS PowerPoint).
